Strong market in meat
Over the winter months we have seen very strong markets in meat – particularly with lamb. Seasonal conditions are going to bring some animals to the market early and we are still seeing a lot of cows being processed. When the season does eventually break across Australia we are going to see a lot of property come to the market as smaller operators have difficulty restocking due to the price of livestock and the lack of ability to fund.
One of the major rural banks analyst’s declares that we will see more listings in the marketplace and less profit for operators in the next 18 months. Rabobank’s 2019 report says rural land price increases have been solid across most sectors, and a slowdown in growth has been predicted. The analyst’s report says that over the past 5 years Agricultural land prices have increased by a compounding annual growth rate of 7 percent, having accelerated over the past 2 years.
